Matthew Henry was created near Wales on October 18, 1662.
Henry was primarily home-educated by his father, Rev. Philip Henry, including the Thomas Doolittle academy from 1680-1682. Henry first commenced studying law in 1686, but instead of pursuing a profession in law he started to preach as part of his neighborhood.
After the promise of liberty of conscience by James II in 1687, he was privately ordained in London, and also on June 2, 1687, shortly fater he began his regular ministry as non-conformist pastor of the Presbyterian congregation at Chester. He remained on this position for two-and-a-half decades. After declining repeatedly offers from London congregations, he finally accepted a try to Hackney, London, and began his ministry there May 18, 1712, shortly before his death.

Adam Clarke 1760 or 1762 - 1832 would be a British Methodist theologian and Biblical scholar. He is chiefly remembered for writing a commentary for the Bible which took him 40 years to try and do and which was obviously a primary Methodist theological resource for a few centuries.
