Avaya has released version 10.04.108 with their VPN client that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. This single client sports ths following os in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions;
The new client is currently rebranded because the Avaya VPN Client, however the installation routine still bears the name Nortel VPN Client within the title bar and also the desktop icon put together by the installation has got the label Nortel VPN Client. The new client also supports an entirely quiet installation;
Previously, when users install the customer, they should acknowledge UAC prompts before set up . can continue. If they are not looking for the UAC prompts to indicate up, they'd have to manually install Avaya certificate to your Trusted Publisher store, or evaluate the Р‘Always trust software from Avaya Inc.Р‘ during earlier installation NVC. In this release, a fresh option is introduced the procedure might be automated. To use it, users must pass in Р‘TrustAvayaTRUEР‘ the Р‘TRUEР‘ should be in uppercase for the installer at command line in administrative context. For example,
There may be a few bugs resolved within this release such as the following;
wi00568576 Wireless users are disconnected intermittently. IPSec users that are behind an invisible cable modem are disconnected intermittently. Users are able to authenticate successfully, but later they get disconnected plus the client shows up the message Р‘VPN tunnel is disconnected as a result of routing table changeР‘. This is because the os changes the metric of wireless interface as outlined by various parameters when Automatic Metric choices enabled. This is the default configuration for network interfaces in Windows. This causes your client to consider which the routing tabled is hacked and disconnects the tunnel.
wi00595275 Screen Saver policy enforced at user level only. End user machineР‘s screen saver settings could be enabled at user level or group level via Active Directory group policy. When the VPN client enforces the screen saver policy pushed from server, it only checks anyone level setting.
wi00595280 Unable to ping a nearby interface from a tunnel is disconnected. The issue occurs on Windows Vista/7 with mandatory tunneling only.
wi00666178 Inaccurate message once the QOTD banner message just isn't received. If the quote-of-the-day banner message gets lost caused by networking issue, the tunneling attempt failed with error message of Р‘User didn't acknowledge the bannerР‘, which can confuse users. The message is reworded as Р‘The banner message through the VPN Router had not been received, or the consumer didn t acknowledge the banner. Please call your Network Administrator or Helpdesk for assistance.Р‘
wi00823633 On Windows XP the buyer fails to start but only if 4.0 is accessible. On machines which may have Framework v4.0 but no v3.5 or earlier versions available, the customer fails to start.
wi00840078 Local IP address is unreachable on Windows 7. On Windows 7/Vista, every time a tunnel has risen in mandatory tunneling mode, your neighborhood host IP address will not be accessible.
wi00595473 Preconfigured profiles weren't displayed sometimes.
wi00841234 NVC GUI takes number of years to launch up when utilizing IPSec profiles having saved passwords.
wi00827126 Certificate based SSL tunneling fails when EACA NHA/TG is enabled. When Avaya EAC Agent formerly Nortel Health Agent or TunnelGuard is enabled, certificate-based SSL tunneling attempt will fail with error of Р‘Banner fetching failed.Р‘
wi00830401 On Windows 7/Vista the DNS settings for that VPN connection just isn't used when the connection is by a mobile broadband card connection. ItР‘s a challenge with the operating systemР‘s DNS resolution. Please use MicrosoftР‘s workaround described here:?scidkb;en-us;311218
wi00841109 Occasionally tunneling attempts may fail with error of Р‘Activating VPN adapter failedР‘ error is displayed.
wi00841089 Sometimes the log clear function doesn t work. The log shows you will find query errors.
A volume of readers posted comments for the previous software release, Nortel VPN Client Release 10.04.016, round the first issue above where users were getting disconnected together with the following message; VPN tunnel is disconnected because of routing table change. If you don t sense that upgrading the buyer you can implement a workaround offered by a reader.
You will find the complete release notes here.
I m making the AVC software available here unless I m contacted by Avaya.
I cannot host the Avaya VPN client software do towards the enormous bandwidth utilization on my own host. In addition you will discover just way too many people abusing my gesture. I had an individual IP address from China download the buyer software so frequently that it consumed 10GB of bandwidth.

Its an excellent great site you serving for that community who needs help and support on this domain.
We mostly have winXP for client pc therefore we are slowly introducing or inducing MAc in your environment to guide web dev team.
I installed apani that's the only Nortel certified alternative party vpn client on MAC and linux platform.
its is very rewarding and very all to easy to configure as rival fortinet vpn client.
I also tried the hyperlink for Nortel contivity VPN client 10.4.016 post7 which is very rewarding on Windows 7 but can not work on Vista same configuration.
I tried this 10.4.016 client and also got this error msg on Win XP Failed to connect to the following reason: Activating VPN adapter failed
Any idea what I am missing?
I m sorry I missed this page been very busy lately.
I ve haven t personally tried 10.04.108 but I have tested 10.04.016 on both Windows 7 64bit and Windows Vista 64bit and in addition they both worked for me. I will admit that I had UAC disabled during both tests.
Have you tried the 10.04.108 version I ve posted to this particular article?
Thanks for your posting on the Avaya clients.
Do you already know if they possess a MAC and Linux version?
As stated previously Avaya formerly Nortel use to OEM the Apani VPN client software, but they also charged per copy before the Windows VPN client. I don t believe Avaya still OEMs it but it is possible to still purchase it right from Apani.
I wanted to ask if you had any ideas on how I could possibly get the Nortel VPN client any version installed on my own Windows 7 32-bit machine. Every time I attempt a Nortel installer 108 or 016 within this machine it errors and rolls back. The Error occurs throughout the part if this attempts to put in the Virtual Adapter it opens a CMD window. When it errors it throws a plain 1722 installer error.
I have tried these Nortel Installers: NVC32-10.04.108, NVC32-10.04.016, NVCSetupV8100
I also tried disabling my Anti-Virus and I powered down UAC.
Any insights can be greatly appreciated!
Do you've any other network related software installed, including other VPN clients? What Anti-Virus software have you been using? Most Anti-Virus software today installs itself into the LSP therefore it can examine each of the network traffic.
I ve performed this same installation on literally a multitude of fresh clean Windows 7 installations without issue therefore it s more likely to be something specific in your machine.
Have you attempted to reset your network settings?
I wanted to ask if it was feasible for you to send me a copy with the NVC 10.04.108 or AVC on this case both x64 and x86. I have been while using previous version for quite a while now and saw this technology available. Of course, I found a stumbling block with all the Sold-to number on Avayas website when I experimented with download it as a I am just a stop user on this product. I am sure my opportunity is an Avaya partner, when you are spread over 220 countries, the large wheel wouldn't normally turn as fast in getting me quite sure.
Thanks to the comment! I ve sent which you email reply.
I m sort of within the same boat as Kevin. We use Nortel VPN switches but nobody higher up has brought the time to find their Sold-to number, and we all were stuck using something more than 10.x for a time until I arrived and found the past version. However, my department that I m in being an IT Intern! is consistently experiencing issues that are fixed within the 108 release. I can be most grateful when you could hook me up, and you can delete the post afterwards.
I ve sent you an email reply.
Michael, we re inside same situation because last couple of posters. Several Nortel VPN switches inside field but no Sold To number for Avaya. If you could potentially send me links to both 32 and 64 bit versions that can be awesome. Thanks!
I ve sent you an email reply.
Anand Ranjan April 27, 2011, 12:21 pm
I am also facing the similar issue as i have said by Michaela and Kevin. Can you please help me to discover a quick solution.
I ve sent you an email reply.
I wanted to ask if you can be so kind and send me version 10.04.108 or 109 if you've it. The company I work for has become stuck on novell 10.x previous versions which ought to many problems and I am not to ever sure if we have been Avaya Partners.
I ve replied to you personally via email.
Can I have both clients too? I have looked around for these programs but you are nowhere found. On Sprint s website they don t possess the newest version:
I ve replied for your requirements via email.
I am also hunting for a copy in the NVC 10.04.108.
However, my real need to have is to be able make use of Win7 virtual XP mode to VPN to my companies NVR. I have NVC 10.01.052 installed within the Win7 host, and also this works for that host, in XP mode I cannot ping an IP behind the NVR. I have McAfee installed from the host, and easily XP firewall within the virtual machine.
1 I hope the current version allows XP mode to apply the VPN tunnel on the host.
2 alternatively I could install the VPN a second time in the XP virtual machine.
3 Do you could have any exposure to this situation, or suggestions?
You can t utilize client inside configuration you are hoping. If you want the Windows XP instances to possess access you'll want to install/run the VPN client for the Windows XP instance. I know that Windows XP running within VirtualBox work on a Windows 7 host server works. You probably can t run both clients as well either depending within the configuration on the Nortel VPN router.
there s an update with the vpn client to v10.04.109. perhaps michael can host the files in say in freeing up your individual website bandwidth.:
I have tried a great connect using NVC32-10.04.016 and not at all successful and receiving the Activating VPN adapter failed error.
Can you please send me the 32bit?
I understand the issue documented within the release notes for 10.04.016;
wi00841109 Occasionally tunneling attempts may fail with error of Р‘Activating VPN adapter failedР‘ error is displayed.
I wanted to ask if you or anybody else has had a problem with Nortel/Avaya VPN causing BSOD errors. So far I have only found which the VPN Client and certain anti-virus programs tend not to play nice sometimes.
I don t believe I ve seen the Nortel/Avaya VPN client create a BSOD. Did you write down the big mistake message, I m curious what driver or process is bringing about the blue screen?
You didn t mention what os you have or what service pack it really is.
The tastes problems I ve seen after some time involve because you mention Anti-Virus and Security/Firewall software blocking the text, other software interfering from the LSP stack or trojans/malware interfering inside LSP stack.
You shouldn t have some other third party VPN clients installed, they're also known to restrict each other.
You can buy the links for the software within the latest post;
I m slightly off the subject but I possess a question. I use a Nortel Conitivity VPN and I have users who would like to use Ipads and Iphones to find yourself in the network. It has IPsec cisco PPTP, and L2TP options about the Ipad. Which could be the soundest way to build a VPN using the IPAD? I think the PPTP or perhaps the L2TP are options that might work together with the Nortel VPN.
I haven t ever done it myself personally but I guess theoretically it could actually certainly work. Assuming you ll function as the first you ll must figure out how to realize success and what settings are needed.
I ve been migrating to from Nortel/Avaya for remote access instead leveraging our Juniper SSL VPN appliances using the JUNOS Pulse client. We also leverage the Citrix receiver for that iPAD.
There s a brand new VPN client which is available from Avaya;
I have installed the most recent version, but I have to make the pofile part from the msi package or any way. Because I use group security I dont want a gamers to know the group password.
Where will be the profiles stored so I can copy it to multiple pc s?
Your real question is more of an how do I package the buyer which I m really not informed about. You can certainly examine using a Microsoft product SMS or some alternative client package installer for distribution to multiple PCs.
I use WIN 7 professional, Unable to connect with My company IPVPN using any connection medium from my laptop. giving the banner error. Please help to solve the issue. I am using 10.04.109

If you get your message about anyone not acknowledging the banner, this means there is something blocking the VPN traffic somewhere. Usually it really is a firewall either inside the network your on or on your own laptop. You must make sure the Internet connection your using allows IPSec transversal or passthrough. However, lately I have found out that mobile Internet data sticks make use of a very restrictive report on ports they permit they use white directory of ports, not black listing. If your VPN client doesn t makes use of the specific port numbers they appreciate, it won t work. I had to lock my VPN router to make use of UDP port 4500 just for IPSec NAT support.
I tried turning my Antivirus Firewall OFF both Windows IDS. It still doesn t work.
The last time I could connect with my Office VPN was utilizing the ver. 10.04.16 and before that 10.04.052 was working I had to reinstall the Client almost every time to have great results. Every time I shutdown my PC, I had to re install the Client but It accustomed to connect successfully, but one day I installed Ver. 10.04.109 thinking the issue has been resolved within the latest ver. But now the OLD version doesn t connected by any means, it doesn t even shows your message can not attain the server however the ver.10.04.109 connects to authenticates then while waiting for that Banner for matter of moments. it give error User didn't acknowledge the banner or
Not sure but I utilize the same Internet connection, over WI-fi, LAN no change done towards the routers which can be ADSL router managed by provider and even experimented with use the USB data cards using their company service provider over which I familiar with connect fine using old version of clients.
So not certain that this is usually of some assistance to get my problem resolved. normally I haven't any option but to select from XP is supported offically by my business IT.
There was obviously a fix from the recent version for a challenge related to your banner, however, generally if your client fails on retrieving the banner text it usually indicates there is a challenge with various TCP/UDP ports relating to the client plus the VPN router.
You may wish to try the most up-to-date client;
There has also been a known problem with wireless that might hang up the text so you might choose to make without doubt you are hardwired.
Hoorraaa!! Persistance makes sense.
I found the spot that the profiles are kept. RTFM!
This is to the latest version, like Michael has mentioned, it's like the new edition is just for rebranding
For the older versions it will are the Nortel folder.
Hope this helps anybody else!
There s an additional new VPN client available;
I m planning to close this thread to your new comments.

Note: I m hosting these files from my very own servers so please don t abuse my generosity by hot-linking to them using their company sites or by downloading the files a multitude of times needlessly.
I m no more personally while using Avaya VPN Client. These days I utilize Juniper Network Connect and Pulse client when working remotely. So I m not necessarily in a position to help everyone because of their installation problems. In the past I ve found that the buyer will work fine using a fresh OS installation the majority with the time if it wouldn t work with that same machine prior for the re-imaging.

A. The symptom on this problem is how the Linux Client seems to attempt to connect, however it never gets to be a response in the gateway device.
The Linux OS features a built-in firewall ipchains that blocks UDP port 500, UDP port 1000, and Encapsulating Security Payload ESP packets. Since the firewall is on automatically, you either must disable the firewall or available the ports for IPsec communication for both inbound and outbound connections to mend the problem.

Q. When I try to file for the VPN Client 4.9 for MAC OS 10.6, I receive this error: How to eliminate this issue?
A. No. The Nortel Client cannot connect on the Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator.
A. No. There are known issues when multiple VPN clients are attached with the same PC.
A. Cisco VPN Clients aren't supported with third-party VPN concentrators.
A. The Cisco VPN Client 1.1 have their own certificate store. The Cisco VPN Client 3.x may store certificates within the Microsoft store using Common-Application Programming Interface CAPI, or it could store them in Ciscos own store RSA Data Security.
A. No, group name and user name cannot become the same. This is really a known issue, seen in software versions 2.5.2 and 3.0, and included in 3.1.2. View Cisco bug ID CSCdw29034 registered customers only in Bug Toolkit to find out more.
A. No, cards in this type will not be supported.
A. The Cisco VPN Client now adjusts the Maximum Transmission Unit MTU size. The Set MTU Utility options no longer a required installation step. The Set MTU options used primarily for troubleshooting connectivity problems. The path to simply select the SetMTU choice for a Windows machine is Start Programs Cisco Systems VPN Client SetMTU. For more information for the SetMTU option and setting this program in other os's, consider Changing MTU size through SetMTU option.
A. The languages supported around the Cisco VPN Client GUI versions later than 4.0 are Canadian, French, and Japanese.
A. To provide a more impressive range of security, the VPN Client either can enforce the process of a supported firewall or get a pushed down stateful firewall policy for Internet bound traffic.
Currently, the VPN Client 5.0 props up following personal firewalls:
Starting in version 3.1, a fresh feature is added to your VPN 3000 Concentrator that detects what personal firewall software remote users have installed and prevents a persons from connecting inside absence in the appropriate software. Choose Configuration User Management Groups Client FW, and click on the tab to the group to configure this feature
For more information concerning the enforcement of firewall policy using a Cisco VPN Client machine, consider Firewall Configuration Scenarios.
A. The Cisco VPN Client doesn't work with AOL 7.0 without having to use split tunneling. View Cisco bug ID CSCdx04842 registered customers only in Bug Toolkit for additional information.
A. If there is no communication activity over a user connection within this 30-minute period, it terminates the partnership. The default idle timeout setting is half an hour, which has a minimum allowed valuation on 1 minute as well as a maximum allowed importance of 2, 147, 483, 647 minutes in excess of 4, 000 years.
Choose Configuration User Management Groups, and choose the suitable group name to change the idle timeout setting. Choose Modify Group, select the HW Client tab, and type the specified value from the User Idle Timeout field. Type 0 so as to disable timeout and invite an unlimited idle period.
A. If the file is bundled while using VPN Client software gets hotter is first installed, it automatically configures the VPN Client during installation. You can also distribute the profile files apply for each connection entry as preconfigured connection profiles for automatic configuration. To distribute preconfigured copies from the VPN Client software to users for installation, complete these steps:
Copy the VPN Client software files through the distribution CD-ROM into each directory in places you created an global file and separate connection profiles for any set of users.
Note: For the Mac OS X platform, preconfigured files are placed within the Profiles and Resources folders prior to a VPN Client is installed. The file is placed inside the installer directory. You must place custom files inside the VPN Client Installer directory at the identical level because Profiles and Resources folders. See Chapter 2 from the VPN Client User Guide for Mac OS X for more info
Prepare and distribute the bundled software. CD-ROM or network distribution. Be sure the file and profile files are within the same directory with all of the CD-ROM image files. You can have users install with this directory via a network connection; or it is possible to copy all files to a fresh CD-ROM for distribution; or you are able to create a self-extracting ZIP file that contains the many files using this directory, and still have users download it, then install it.
Supply users with another necessary configuration information and instructions. See Chapter 2 from the VPN Client User Guide on your platform.
A. Make certain that you run the modern drivers about the NIC card. This is always recommended. If possible, test to see in the event the problem is specific for the operating system, PC hardware, as well as other NIC cards.
A. Choose Options Properties Connections, and hold the Cisco VPN Client pull down a Dial-Up Networking yellow pages entry so as to fully automate the dial-up to the VPN connection.
A. You can notify VPN Client users if it is the perfect time to update the VPN Client software on their own remote systems. Refer to Notifying Remote Users of your Client Update to get a step-by-step approach. Ensure that you simply type the discharge information as Rel, as noted in step 7 on the process.
A. The Cisco VPN Client is within fall back mode. This contributes for the delay. In fallback mode, the VPN Client performs differently when start before logon was in use. When operating in fallback mode, the VPN Client doesn't check to see if your necessary Windows services have started. As a result, the VPN connection could fail if initiated too the Cisco VPN Client, and eliminate the offending applications to permit startup without having to be in fall back mode. Then reinstall the Cisco VPN Client. For details on fallback mode, please consider Start before Logon.
A. The was the main launching mechanism for that Cisco VPN Client version When the GUI was changed inside the 4.x versions, a whole new executable called appeared. The file was carried forward in name just for backward compatibility and merely launches the This is the reason you could understand the difference within the file size.
So once you downgrade from version 4.x to version 3.x on the Cisco VPN Client, you'll need the file to file for this.
A. The Cisco VPN Client inside the startup folder props up Start Before Logon feature. If you do not makes use of the feature, then you will not need it inside startup folder.
A. The Start Before Logon feature demands the userlogon, but an average launch on the Cisco VPN Client by an individual does not need this.
A. There would be a bug in a number of Network Address Translation NAT/PAT implementations that creates ports a lot less than 1024 not to ever be translated. On the Cisco VPN Client 3.1, despite NAT transparency enabled, the Internet Security Association and Key Management Protocol ISAKMP session uses UDP 512. The first VPN client goes from the PAT unit and keeps source port 512 around the outside. When the second VPN client connects, port 512 is definitely in use. The attempt fails.
There are three possible workarounds.
Upgrade the VPN clients to a few.4, and make use of TCP encapsulation.
Install a VPN 3002 that replaces all VPN clients.
A. Two clients can connect to your same head end through the same location as long because the clients will not be both behind a machine performing PAT such being a SOHO router/firewall. Many PAT devices can map ONE VPN connection to some client behind it, yet not two. In order to permit two VPN clients to connect on the same location behind a PAT device, enable some kind of encapsulation for example NAT-T, IPSec over UDP, or IPsec over TCP on the head end. Generally, NAT-T or some other encapsulation ought to be enabled if ANY NAT device is relating to the client along with the head end.
A. The laptop could be retaining the routing information through the LAN connection. Refer to VPN Clients with Microsoft Routing Problems for information about how to solve this issue.
A. Check the registry key named HKLMSoftwareCisco SystemsVPN ClientTunnelEstablished. If a tunnel is active, the additional value is 1. If no tunnel occurs, the additional value is 0.
A. Follow the right steps listed here so that you can control the partnership settings:
On the primary drive from the PC, choose Program Files Cisco Systems VPN Client Profiles. Right-click on the profile which you use, and judge Open With so as to open the profile in a very text editor including Notepad. When you find the program to utilize, you'll want to uncheck your box that says Always use this program to look at these files. Locate the profile parameter for ForcekeepAlives, and affect the value from 0 one, then save the profile.
For the VPN client, choose Options Properties General, and enter a value for that Peer response timeout, as shown on this sample window. You can specify a timeout sensitivity of a few seconds to 480 seconds.
For the VPN concentrator, choose Configuration User Management Groups modify group. On the IPsec tab, choose the selection for IKE Keepalives, as shown within this sample window.
The Dead Peer Detection DPD interval varies based about the sensitivity setting. Once a response is just not received, it moves right into a more aggressive mode, and sends packets every five seconds prior to the peer response threshold is met. At that time, the link is torn down. You can disable the keepalives, if a connection does actually drop, you have to wait for your timeout. Cisco recommends which you set the sensitivity value minimal initially.
A. No. Double authentication will not be supported within the Cisco VPN Client.
A. You must use digital signatures certificates as a way to allow Cisco VPN Client to attach in main mode. There are 2 techniques to accomplish this:
Obtain CA certificates in the third-party certificate provider by way of example, Verisign or Entrust within the router and every one of the Cisco VPN Clients. Enroll the identity certificates in the same CA server and rehearse digital signatures as a solution to authenticate between Cisco VPN Client along with the router. For details about this configuration, talk about Configuring IPSec Between Cisco IOS Routers and Cisco VPN Client Using Entrust Certificates.
The second options to configure the router because the CA server along while using head end on the remote access VPN. Installing the certificates and anything else will remain as described inside previous link except the router will behave like a CA server. For more info, talk about Dynamic LAN-to-LAN VPN between Cisco IOS Routers Using IOS CA around the Hub Configuration Example.
A. Add an exclamation mark ! on the front of the parameter in register for each user as a way to make the parameter read only.
The values for parameters that start having an exclamation point ! can't be changed because of the user inside VPN client. The fields for these particular values inside the GUI is going to be grayed out read only.

In this situation, an individual is unable to customize the Description, Host, GroupName, and Username values.
A. No. It just isn't possible to limit/restrict access for VPN clients dependant on MAC addresses.
A. This issue occurs when the buyer window coordinates inside file get corrupted. You either can:
Delete the file and restart the consumer.
