Ive been using Photoshop since version 2 and have already been teaching Photoshop classes more than 10 years, which is the worst upgrade ever two stars since, well, it IS Photoshop afterall.
Photoshops most touted new feature-non-destructive filters-is implemented very poorly. Rather than working like adjustment layers currently work, SmartFilters, as they can be known, convert the main Photoshop layer in to a SmartObject and places the SmartFilter at the top. You CS2 users are aware that you cant edit a SmartObject in Photoshop-you need to go for the objects native application. So to edit the image beneath a SmartFilter, Photoshop opens it in a different document window meaning you cant see its interaction with layers underneath since you edit it, and cant see what sort of various SmartFilters increase the risk for changed composition look and soon you save and return to the initial document, and also you cant understand the effect from the SmartFilter while you edit the root art.

I have already been using Adobe CS3 mostly Photoshop, Illustrator InDesign for that past 4 months roughly. I have already been using Photoshop itself, since version 4.
In a sentence, Photoshop CS3 is nice, in case you are actually using CS2, there is absolutely no real reason to upgrade.
The added features are OK, however, not worth purchasing really and I experienced stability issues using this type of newer version of Photoshop that I have never had in CS2. The two most annoying complaints are: If I have a very non-postscript printer set as being a default, Photoshop will ALWAYS crash when I open a 2nd document blank or elsewhere. The other issue and that is also given to InDesign is if I happen to be using Photoshop to get a few hours, and switching between programs, Photoshop will vanish. It will not likely show up around my taskbar WinXP SP2 nor inside the running apps list in Task Manager. I need to terminate the process on the Task Manager process window, then restart obviously losing all unsaved edits.
I usually do not have these complications with Photoshop CS2.

Based on these reviews, it seems apparent that there were bugs within the versions purchased in June and earlier. I just bought my upgrade in December and yes it works fine, as other later reviewers commented. I dont think Adobe has got to put fake reviews on Amazon to offer their product, united reviewer suggested. They offer automatic free the service, eh?
