So for me it rather indicates something amiss with your personal machine set-up than this program itself. Its possible your anti-virus program might hinder it, but I cant understand why. Or maybe firewall. Is everything as much as date - Windows updates, AV etc.?
HTTrack is extremely good at finding and following links through the URL you supply. It is therefore ideal for downloading a total website.

I believe which the filters do not work over the GUI and I didn't try the command line interface. HTTrack would be the wrong selection for carefully controlling what on earth is downloaded; thus, it can be poor for excising a portion of an large website.

Ive installed the program on various flavours of Windows, including XP Professional and Home in English and Italian, Vista and 7.
There is utterly no spyware or malware regardless of the sort attached to quite sure. You are either mistaken, badly informed or something that is - its difficult to tell. In any event if I were the author or vendor of HTTrack I would be very upset and enquire of Cnet to look at down your comment because it's simply untrue.

I put on the extender on XP both at the office and home, now I use it with win 7 in the office and with Win 8 in the home. Neither Symantec, McAfee or AVG alerted me for viruses nor I had/have any indications it truly is harmfull. It DOESNT install additional stuff.
