GauravK. thank yo much! I had XP going over a Virtual Machine, and in some cases when I enabled ClearType inside advanced visual settings this didn't so clearly something on my own end using the virtual XP machine. Kudos for fixing it. With your new button size 0 default is most effective.
Right-click about the picture, Save picture.
I found it somewhat off my taskbar. I moved it a number of pixels and from now on its fixed.
Right select the image, save it somewhere it wont get deleted I recommend building a folder labeled Start buttons in classic shells install directory, although it doesnt really matter where
Then right click your start button, and from the beginning menu style tab, check Replace start button select custom, then pick image. Then browse towards the file striking OK

I find 38 could be the right size to check up using the original windows 8 button in my other taskbars. Its not quite as sharp when scaled down though. Still, works well!
The default was too big plus the icon was getting cropped. The suggested sized 42 made the full area too small. I place it to 48 and it also appears to get perfect now.
It doesnt look as sharp because the real Windows 8.1 button, but itll do.

Start screen doesnt search locations away from Libraries, Start menu searched all indexed locations neither does Classic Shell on the moment-its difficult to add Windows Search integration while using current design

I m a Microsoft fanboi but I cant defend metro. This can be a sad day for my relationship with windows. I ve always looked forward for the latest version of windows as well as the shiny new trinkets it brings but after a couple of minutes with all the developer preview I vowed to never install windows 8 until the beginning bar was back:- No shiny new windows to me.
