I need to agree with previous reviewers that CDRWin will be abandoned by its author. He just added new devices, blacklisted pirated serials and asks subscription fees from new registered users like me.

If you've got Nero, copy the file from a Nero folder to WinNT/System32 and it can work fine. If you dont have Nero, hunt around for AspiMe and install that. You need to roll back your date to sometime in 98 to the to install.

Except for adding support of the latest writers, the application form hasnt changed in years. Is it me or can it get annoying with apps this way come out yet absolutely nothing is really mentioned with what updates are already made and 4.0a continues to be out for the long time. From the interface we could all tell its never been upgraded. I do such as the ease of operation, its great at making images and its particular failure rate on burning images is quite good. When it all boils down to it nero does everything this thing is ever going to do and much more, until cdrwin adds more well, Im personally deeply in love with nero burning rom.

incompatible with my nec 8x4x32 cd-rw drive, however its definately usefull for rolling your individual ISO images. I tried on the extender to create a bootable sp2 integrated version of my retail win2k cd so I wouldnt need to keep installing SP2 everytime I reloaded my machine.

I offer an external USB 1 driver, which appears to be generally unsupported because of the big cdwriting apps like nero and roxio. Tried this and my suprise it found my cdrw drive, unfortunately there the happiness ended as that it was so flaky, would get somewhat way thru burning anything then leave out the drive, Id must restart the app to have it think it is again.
Wasted litereally a multitude of cdrs before I gave it the boot.

At just once this CDRWin did its job and achieved it well enough. Ive always felt the GUI was piss poor however it worked where other software had issues many in years past. Time has passed along with other programs have evolved and improved. Where I once had problem with Bin/Cue files and Nero I not do and I uses Nero rather than CDRWin. I have certainly no reason to own CDRWin on any system I use or own because its antiquated. The addition of DVD support is really a feeble addition to keep this method current. Updating the supported drives is sweet its time and energy to throw inside the towel. CDRWin s days have passed.
Very bad listview design methodology: does CDRWin include the complete paths youve added, or should it include the content below them? Who the hell knows until youve done a number of test burns to determine how it works. It should make use of a treeview and also the root node needs to be the actual disc compilation itself its label but not a stupid included path. CDRWin hasnt changed for six years, and counting. Used to rule for protections, anyway - generation compilations became a weak point even long ago, the good news is. oh dear.

Somebody put this lumbering dinosaur to get to sleep already. The original developer has left quite sure behind many in the past, much the identical way the developers of Winamp did recently. That is why CDRWIN will invariably remain the identical and only minor updates will probably be issued to back up new hardware. Other than that, dont expect any major improvents this type of re-design in the interface or any other features. The only reason whole process almost remains is really because Golden Hawk Technologies is decided to squeeze every last penny of profitability from the jawhorse. As far as Im concerned this thing has long outlived its usefulness and you'll find far better alternatives. Dont waste your time and efforts and money on this part of junk.
do they still allow it to be? i think you can find a great deal of freeware apps that will do better then cdrwin does. but a long time ago it was great. crappy interface, but achieved it job.
This thing sucked in years past, and is particularly right!
Many in the past this software was the most effective for certain tasks. For example it once was the only burning program that can successfully write Playstation 1 game isos. This was 5-6 in the past and the UI looked the identical back then. Today I cant see why this system are kept up to date.
The UI was outdated many in years past and nothing has evolved. Burning suites like Nero is capable of doing everything that CDRWIN can and a lot of many more things, and Nero is usually much more intuitive.
Umm. yea. Back inside the day, CDRWIn may are already all that. Unfortunately Goldenhawk and even more specifically Jeff Arnold does not cherish their customers. Hey Jeff, where would be the cue sheet editor promised last version 2??!! Were still waiting. I paid high dolar for the offer and continued to spend outrageous upgrade prices waiting for the latest features that never came. That all ended a little while back. I got fed up of recieving 0 tech support for my money and basically no new originiality being introduced into the offer. Same drab interface this program is wearing since day 1 almost. Do your favor and find Fireburner instead. Hey Jeff, you suck.
Terrible graphical user interface. I prefer Fireburner over CDRWin.
BIG RED XWindows cannot run this system because it is inside an invalid format as well as: Error Starting ProgramThe file hasn't been compiled to get a CPU that is certainly compatible on this version of Windows. Contact your vendor for just a newer version
What BS are these claims? I have Windows98SE running using a P3-550733 with 192MB ram. I used the hyperlink here with this page to download.
Downloaded, installed, caused Xp home edition to continually reboot when starting this program. Uninstalled crap incompatible program.
I remember inside the 20th century this app was GREAT, but oh the way the mighty have fallen. it saddens me. i simply use Nero or Alcohol now.
