Please note this tutorial creates all computers not simply the Asus EEE PC.

Special Note: If you use this course Nlite you'll want to keep the manual installation files as being the USBprep8 script depends on these files.
The alternative is to extract USBprep8 and PeToUSB.
Next copy the PeToUSB executable into your USBprep8 folder.

Please note: When running the command you are unable to have any windows open displaying this article of your USB stick, if you've a window open are going to be unable to lock the drive and write the bootsector correctly.
If all went well you should see Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes.
Now you are able to close this command prompt dont close the usbprep8 one by accident and the petousb window.
If it doesnt try pressing enter.
Now you should enter the proper information for numbers 1-3.
Press 1 and enter. A folder browse window will open to suit your needs to browse on the location individuals XP setup files aka your cdrom drive with xp cd in
Press 4 to begin the process.
The script ask you if it is ok to format drive T:. This is just a temp drive this program creates to cache the windows installation files. Press Y then enter.

Foarte misto, util si bun tutorialul. M-am chinuit 3 zile sa invat cum sa pun XP pe EeePC si singur nu am reusit sa ii dau de cap.
Multumesc mult pentru acest tutorial; Merge brici si eee simplu.
Hi there, completed it but when attempting to start into GUI, keeps getting missing or corrupt error message.
Tried often still entering into that same loop.
In the conclusion I had to tug the usb be noticeable and got new error message ntldr missing and can not boot so was required to do a reset.
Even experimented with use cdrom attached to EEE usb port to set up but the ntldr won't go away also it basically hung.
I have the identical problem as gbpdem.
the file is missing and even though formatting the drive also to begin copying installation files, it prompts to restart.
Yes you have to make sure the USB device is set since the first boot device as part of your bios under tough drive section. that ought to fix the problem you and them are having.
Thanks Nick with the quick reply,,
It is set to start first,, but nevertheless encountering this issue frequently!!
Fahad: recreate your USB stick and make certain writes the proper boot sector for the USB drive without the need of errors. A failed bootsector write would be the only instance Ive experienced the condition youre describing.
I dont have issue booting in the my USB flash,,
After my laptop boots from your USB and displays your choices, i choose 2nd TXT after which it displays the blue installation screen, i choose the fresh windows installation option, look at the right partition, then it prompts for formatting, after format is complete, it will copy mobile phone files today,, THIS IS THE ISSUE, it doesnt know where will be the files and dislplays cant find installation files retry or restart,,
I don't possess usb cdrom, and that i need to get my laptop up running,,
Yes Fahad I do understand the challenge you are receiving. What I informed you to do last time remains the solution. The boot sector currently written in your USB device does allow you on top of that to text mode setup that's basically DOS but you do not have the proper boot sector written too into NT which would be the second part of setup, windows setup doesn't write this boot sector because it truly is already designed to exist. Recreate your usb stick like I said inside my previous post.
You know Nick, i have done what you said exactly all over again and also the process is correct coz it displays Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes
Again, it boots but winds up with a similar issue again displaying the following
Setup cannot access the CD containing the windows XP installation files.
To retry, press ENTER, if that you are not successful after serveral tries, quit
Now, it might not need the boot sector for NT!!
I was check screen after format is conducted, next at the bottom from the screen it displays Checking C: drive i think the USB which includes the files been granted the letter U:
is there however to check this out?! my business is really confused:
Fahad, if you last ran bootsect made it happen display this message across the one you sent me? Updated FAT filesystem bootcode. The update could be unreliable since the
Access is denied. if that message displayed this would mean it was not written correctly. This could be the only time Ive had the situation youre discribing. Sorry I cant constitute more help there is however no reason why should you be possessing problem.
No, it didnt display everything you mentioned,,
I guess to solve this matter, after format is accomplished, we should instead point system copying the files from your flash which is scheduled to U:,, rather than looking for C: with no installation files upon it.
if it is possible to help, otherwise, i truly appreciate your prev. answers
Fahad: do this method maybe you have more success?id1888
be sure you read through each of the posts it's much simpler to perform than the first entry indicates.
Fahad: I guess to solve this challenge, after format is accomplished, we must point system copying the files on the flash which is scheduled to U:,, as an alternative to looking for C: without installation files about it.
Nick, I copied my and NTLDR files coming from a working XP in to the windowssystem32 around the eee, along with trying bootcfg/rebuild, fixboot etc
By just how, perhaps there is any difference between setting the installation to begin with or finished inside the bios?
I tried both with similar result.
Excellent advice. It worked personally first time.
The initial cmd variety of drives didnt often want to help 10 minutes, even so suddenly did as was expected after Id selected options 1-3 numerous times.
Ive got 1.91Gb of space left too!
Thank a great deal as I need this to make use of at work and openoffice impress doesnt show the slides from the same way as PP.
Do you will need a multiple-license copy of XP do do that, or does it do this with a regular home edition and 1 product/activation key?
You don't require a Volume License Key to utilize this tutorial.
After three days of testing I finally been able to make it work.
I used the Windows XP SP 1 and King Max 1 GB Memory Stick then Ive made an update to windows but happened to be SP2 and each of the updates, it truly does work much faster with SP 1 but less security:
Ive aimed to use XP with SP2 but I received many in the problems stated previously so Ive got an XP SP1 and all of went well.
Your guide was very beneficial! I installed it in this little new 8G and I have room to spare! The only problem is I cant get my sound to function. Ive tried all of the drivers around the ASUS DVD, but Windows XP still cant still find it.:
Done the same manner said, have this message after booting from can't be loaded. The error code is 14
Setup cannot continue. Press any critical for exit
I believe that, all you might have problems booting after install using a message around the file, you could have earlier bios than 0401.
Please upgrade bios and retry.
But of the question doesnt change despite if pressing enter. The numbered choices not there.
I had precisely the same problem as Fahad and I solved it - there was 4 partitions on th eeePC harddrive. Ive deleted these and created one. Setup worked fine and then.
Thanks for the great tutorial!
Ben, I believe that you might have this problem since you havent closed PeToUSB - you must clese it, but leave the command window open.
After typing 4 then enter. it begins the gives me an oversight Falied to open up file Please input path: and im stuck have no idea what to try and do next
Mine says File creation error - Error performing inpage operation. For loads on the files. I allow it to finish and perform the other steps however it doesnt work.

i reached the blue XP Setup screen, but there are additional files missing after copying some i cant hop on because in the file - i have no idea where copying it can someone inform me the root directory for your setup process?
i think i plus the other guy have this problems because we have been usign a XP version modified with nLite, even so cant investigate it atm because i've got only a 512mb USB stick
This tutorial just isn't for nlited installations. I will post another tutorial for nlited installations later.
Hi are you able to upload the file completely to another site. can not download thx
I checked the downloads and both the main and alternative downloads still work personally.
i learned that the real problem isnt nLite, but which i was by using a HPOSRESTORE - version of Windows
Maybe you cold mention that your methode works only which has a real XP CD, nick

Those who got problem is as you boot from your harddrive once you finish the partition and copy files procedure.
You should boot into your usbstick again and select option 2, boot to GUI install.
I have similar problem as gdpdem fahad - missing or corrupt. I am trying an install over a regular PC with PATA drives.
renwklo, this matter is not because were booting over HDD.
Booting over USB thumb drive, doing 1. text mode, everything OK, then rebooting, selecting 2. gui mode, or higher pops the thang.
