After an extended shortage of a good non-historical based RTS games, the months from November onward gave the impression to hold much promptly like the how to go about this genre. Kohan II, Dawn of War, Armies of Exigo, Dragonshard and Dawn of Fantasy.
While I did skip Kohan II, I gingerly turn up to the Dawn of War universe. I was somewhat disappointed from the single player campaign, but had my hopes up for Armies of Exigo.

The surface and Empire colors are vibrant, perhaps removing some in the intense atmosphere they're trying to portray. The Beasts and The Fallen to date have appeared a lttle bit grittier, but nothing when compared with Starcraft or Dawn of War. The voices and voice acting are far preferable over Dawn of War, but we dont play RTS games for your voice acting can we?
Set in a very typical fantasy world, with elves, humans, arcane powers and beasts, Armies of Exigo makes a lot of references to some war that predates our entry into your game. Rebuilding old alliances needs a shotgun seat over the first part from the game, despite lacking any missions precisely to do so.
Players of the majority of fantasy RTS games is going to be familiar with two in the sides, while players of Dark Planet or Lords of Everquest will likely be more acquainted with the third the beast. This is definitely an excellent game, far better than warcraft as well as other fantasy RTS types. Very creative units, a fantastic story, fine graphics and also the unique aspect on the underground get this probably the best fantasy RTS available.

Familiar with Starcraft or Warcraft? Then the game should come easily to you personally. Awhile back I was hunting for a good RTS game after having played through all in the hype titles.
Desperate, I found Armies of Exigo and decided it sounded want it was value at least a shot.
The controls in AoE are old. Anyone whose played virtually any RTS on the market should be able to get the game and have the overall hang of it in thirty minutes.
One unique feature well sort of a minimum of is the fact that in AoE the battle can take place above or below ground. When you find an underground access point and enter it youll provide an additional mini map open within the bottom left usually where you might have a talking head from the last unit you selected within your screen.
This can be more important in later missions where youre instructed to move underground and attack the top or to get in one point to another. Sadly side from locating a secret every now and then usually extra resources or stat boosting items it never really feels it adds a great deal of strategy for the game.
The game might be really hard from time to time and it's important to be able to take care of limited resources/units in some levels. Normally within an RTS if you are able to control the resources early on it is possible to win by attrition. This is often a viable tactic in the majority of missions but down the line in the different campaigns you won't seal the sale for you.
