Meet the Kilcher family, who survive a 600-acre homestead in Alaska. With another brutal winter approaching, and bears having killed 2 of the familys cattle, these are forced to pin all their hopes of surviving the wintertime on one last hunting trip.
The first storm of the wintertime is coming soon so the whole Kilcher homestead must race in order to complete preparing with the next eight months. Atz Sr. races ahead on the storm to steer a herd of cattle with a dangerous trek across flooded glacial rivers.
The early winter storms have remaining the entire homestead unprepared. A desperate find a newborn calf as well as its mother forces Ottos wife as well as their youngest son to a night snowstorm while Otto is away building shelter for his herd.
The extended Kilcher family find it difficult to get through a record-breaking harsh winter. Desperate for food, Atz Lee and Jane venture into the ice to use fishing. Patriarchs Otto and Atz embark over a dangerous pursuit for bring assist to a fellow homesteader.
Spring finally arrives about the homestead. Eivin mills lumber, builds a considerable chicken house completely from scratch and helps wife Eve get a rogue cannibal hen. Desperate for food, Jane goes fishing for king salmon solo while husband Atz Lee hunts for black bear.
Otto and family battle sun and rain and predators to push their cattle for the summer pasture. A missing calf causes Otto and Eivin to go off for a risky late night rescue mission. Atz Lee and Jane create a makeshift greenhouse from cast off supplies
Atz begins his summer range riding season to shield Ottos cattle herd. A bear menaces from your edge; a wolf invades the herd. Otto and family race the time and the sun and rain to gather in winters hay crop. Eivin and Eves cannibal hen strikes again.
The Kilchers rally and get in touch with favors to tackle their largest project this year. They have 2 days to produce a long cattle fence and rebuild a cabin, and the treacherous rivers tide will trap their barge brimming with critical equipment for one more month.
Summer half over, the Kilchers go out fishing, however its not for around not entirely. They need 100s of pounds of fish to consume and barter with during winter. Each couple has their particular time-proven technique for catching salmon, halibut and trout.

The Kilchers look like a very honest, intriguing, notable and down-to-earth family. I cant await season 2. I hope there is certainly more about Eves garden. I would want to see how she should it. Also, I hope to view a visit to town, with dialogue about how precisely often each goes to town and then for what purposes. Im also ready to help them to publish a recipe book. Some of those meals they reveal look delicious.
Even together with the contradictions, Im a large fan. Eivan says she has no water, yet he and Eve are washing a plucked chicken within a spigot of flowing water. He says he's got no electricity, but I see solar panels around the side of his house plus a power meter about the side of Atz Lees house.

Im really enjoying this glimpse in to the Kilcher familys 600 acre homestead and self sufficient lifestyle within the Alaskan wilderness. Very interesting where did they originally was there. Eighty years ago the very first Kilcher fled war-torn Europe regarding his wife to ascertain an independent life in America, as well as their descendants are carrying on that tradition. Farming in Virginia is actually difficult enough for that family, but nothing compared to your Kilchers daily fight to survive. Im cheering them on, especially through those interminable winters. Im as far north as I want to be from the Shenandoah Valley.
This show goes back to a period when we wanted and needed family, and worked for the own survival, not for material value. An honest living, true happiness and satisfaction. Making it through lifes struggles plus in such a savage and exquisite place! There is still a small amount of it left to all of us!
I loved the show. I understand who's was made for tv, but sometimes they repeat scenes so often it becomes awful. Its like after, break the break, now, earlier, again earlier ahead of the break. I swear you can observe the same scenes five to six times an instalment. I wish they'd add an educational piece like they certainly in survivor man. Like the tip for making the feather end up easier when plucking a turkey. A little more of their would be great.
I wasnt enthralled by the primary episode but made a decision to watch the other anyways. Wow, I was quickly roped in from the difficult life until this family has. Ive watched every episode and cant lose time waiting for more. The episode where they consider the barge within the river is way too much to be aware of. This family accomplishes more within a summer than most do inside a decade.
A reality show is not overly dramatized. I enjoy seeing that this Kilcher Family live a subsistence life in Alaska. Their effort by friends and family to be self reliant is a great one to everyone.
My wife and I are avid outdoor people, we love the show. The outdoor scenes are very shot so we think it is pretty accurate on the direction they live.
Better than the usual survival show. This household is LIVING. Low-impact living- this family takes only what it really needs and honors our planet while doing the work.
I find so much from watching this huge family survive inside an area you could potentially not pay me enough to reside in. The ingenuity and skills have trained me in a lot. Read more

5.0 beyond 5 stars I have always loved a pioneering spirit

3.0 from 5 stars fed up with trumped up overly dramatic set ups

This is surely an interesting series and may even be wonderful except there is certainly much repetition of voice-over and scenes designed being overly dramatic as well as in my opinion pretentious, aiming to milk the viewers emotions. I lived within the woods in Canada a few years, lived in the tent while helping build my own, personal log cabin, living from the land etc. There is enough actually engaging day to day experiences like planting a yard, canning, pickling, blizzards and also the challenges and sweetness of Nature to produce fascinating authentic life experience without needing to resort to theatrics. Why not show the viewer the wonders of a real life as well as the real challenges-cabin fever in the winter months time and exactly what takes to emotionally support and revere such life experience. However this is interesting enough to watch and I would like to view more authentic films about unique people choosing authentic lives.

Love this Alaskan Wilderness Family, Very Raw and Real. Just plain into earth with Lots of Love and also exciting to observe. Great TV series. Love it. Otto is usually a really nutty, funny, crazy, yet very resourceful style of guy he's always making the show worth watching. Autz his brother, can be a cowboy, hunter, warrior, and do it yourself type of guy. Both of their sons can be a credit for the tv series and so are fun and interesting to look at. Worth the watch.
The will be the Kilcher family, Like Jewel, Jewel kilcher. Her dad would be the cattle man atz, im hooked. Cool family good show with awesome scenery!
A true jem of the show, like it. Big big thanks a lot up loader and primewire.
didnt the modern show air tonight?great show
Born within the inner city, this show really has helped me be creative about the exterior of home, now inside the suburbs. I built my personal fence, drink beers around fires created from brush, and currently focusing on gathering materials for any greenhouse to safeguard my harvest from annoying critters. Cold and mountains of snow, doesnt manage to bother me nearly as up to before. Very informative television. 5/5
We enjoy this show, it gives those of people inner city families a short look at a different world.
Great show, to never is gorgeous, that of a woman, in and out.
Interesting show like to find out more.
Interesting show with likeable characters. Even a good theme song!
If the offer were a pedigree Hereford bull it can be the best in their Just a great show like it and all its different characters and personalities.
I am surprised that nobody has googled this family. They are all multi, multi, millionaires. They usually are not some poor family trying tough to carve out a living within the Alaska wild. These people are all filthy stinking rich, and easily choose to live this rustic lifestyle.
There are numerous peeps appears as if multiple peeps made an alliance to provide negative feed back with this show. Really receive an eoughing life and go elsewhere. I think the peeps can be extremely working for NSA or perhaps the Why all of your sudden will we have this horrible negativity with the exception that there are groups using sites carrying this out.
I am thinking that you will find people NOT just big business that happen to be trying to shut this show down. EVERY single positive comment relating to this show may be sent a NEGATIVE rating and comment. That is weird. It entirely possible that NSA has infiltrated this web site and is sending negative information. Why every positive comment is horribly voted down. I hope that the powers that may be stop the get the NSA NAZI posters. sending this on everybody and find a efghing life anal retarded idiots. JUST TRy and control what is about this site
We love this show, nevertheless, you got us hooked then left us hanging. Where are the newest episodes?
ALASKA the LAST FRONTIER is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. Thanks linkers and up-loaders for anyone who is lurking from the shadows for bringing this show to us.:D
They ensure it is out for being a great rush if it is no harder than I am doing. I cut the firewood to the year, fish and search for food. You will notice the way they portray all of their tasks as urgent and required when it's easily noticed by me being as I am inside the same scenario that often each hunting for enjoyment or break from life daily grind. So many of their extremely needed hunted meat trip isn't finically smart, gas for any quad and driving 6 hours in order to catch a number of tiny trout won't make sense or having a 150mile the best way trip to hunt small black tail I can comprehend the need to obtain away for just a vacation that is certainly most likely what they may be doing although the producers change that. Another point is so it is never mentioned that they make money but an instant adding up equipment inside my head involves easily over 400, 000 and probably much more. I am not kicking dirt at them, they seem to become the salt on the earth however they may be portrayed as some living way off inside
The show is starting to have repetitive in my personal. How many times are you able to excited over driving cattle from or on the head on the bay plus the quot;homestead quot;. Twice a season so season 1-3 totals 6 times. Add another cattle drive at the beginning of season 4 - That makes 7 cattle The show suckers you into believing they are about the edge from the are not. They survive a gravel road with town about 20 miles away. You dont begin to see the vehicles within the show. Google map hunt for Kilcher road and you will observe how close to town they really are. The show leads that you believe the Kilchers lively hood is at jeopardy whenever they lose a cow on the does research online on celebrity net worth and Atz and Otto tend to be worth in excess of 4 million.
