I have already been running Illustrator 10 on XP for quite a while now without problems.
I have just bought a whole new computyer and installed Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have loaded Photoshop CS2 without problems but after checking loading of Illustrator 10, it did as normal, it wont open the programme. It shows it but once the icon is clicked it briefly shows the loading screen and after that returns for the W7 desktop.
Do I need a more modern version of Illustrator or perhaps is ther a fix lurking somewhjere that I can load?

Adobe don't supports version 10. My software has eliminate, I have uninstalled and re-installed, and they're instructing me to buy the newest 499 version when my 10.0 version is merely two years old. They do not support version 10 ever again.

Before I begin, i want to say this: Illustrator like a whole is usually a good product. Unfortunately, Version 10 isn't. In fact, I am surprised it available it passed Beta testing. I am constantly plagued with This program has performed an illegal operation and are going to be shut down. Adobes programmers seemed to be playing with all the grouping commands, and also have failed address a tremendous and obvious flaw when seeking to align groups.
Yes, the opportunity to create symbols is amazingly helpful. But though Illustrator 10 offers a few extras hard to get at in Xara X with no doubt the brand new Illustrator CS has yet several more, none these are essential and many are no a lot more than fairly lame gimmicks lens flare, as an example. Other tools such as scissors, the knife, or even the magic wand may look handy to start with, but soon they reveal themselves to get just extra buttons for functions that Xara performs as well simply with all the line or shape tools. Of course, Illustrator being touted as a standard for vector editing, you may wish to pay the exorbitant price of the offer merely to further improve your self-confidence and credibility to be a graphic artist. Some peer pressure may carry out the rest - based on some, should you dont use Illustrator, youre no more than the usual But dont you imagine them! I have discovered this to get a great tool for creating graphics for my projects. There is a good learning curve though, in my opinion anyway.
