This is just not an accurate review. Captivate 7 has nearly all on the features available that have been listed within the cons. This user either won't have the full version installed or possibly is limited on the knowledge of what the software program can do. I have already been using Captivate for countless years, and possesses improved as time passes. The functionality is way superior to PowerPoint.

Are you stating that functionality which you list under cons has become removed from 7 are able to do all that in 6 or perhaps is it which you didnt realize how to do those actions? Background: Before I loaded in to the coverter, I tried to follow along with the directions and set the file inside the Cativate 5.5 Installation directory. But there seemed to be no Installation directory there seemed to be an Installer directory to ensure that s where I input it. Maybe that isn't the right place because of it? For the record, I m still not convinced not able to eLearning is crowding slides that has a bunch of photographic characters of men and women in different poses, but for your sake of argument, Storyline beats Captivate 6 hands-down here.
In Storyline, Characters is indeed a feature, you choose your Character, position it where you wish, adjust the timing accordingly, manipulate it via Triggers so you re done. Then in order to change its Expression, Pose and Perspective, you don t must disrupt the timing or perhaps the triggers that affect it, also it just works. You simply double-click the Character or higher come methods of character, expression, pose and perspective. Not so within my experiments with Captivate, the Actor appears for being literally a graphic and thus in the event you need a different pose or expression, you will need to replace the picture you inserted initially and potentially must readjust the timing through the timeline. Again a half-hearted effort here.
I don t mean Adobe to be a company, clearly the Dreamweaver, Shadow, inDesign as well as the Edge teams do, I m dealing with how the Adobe Captivate team acknowledges Mobile and Mobile Learning. I may go on an on discussing how I feel about how convoluted and disjointed extra features are in Captivate 6, including having to go out to your separate video editor as a way to apply zoom-and-pan, but I really wanted to have this out now while my first impressions are fresh.
I will continue for making short posts and/or video screencasts highlighting my feelings about all the other extra features.
Sadly I m very disappointed using what I ve seen out with the new Captivate version, and I say sadly because for a long time this product was my baby, from my conception working at eHelp, later Macromedia plus much more recently Adobe to be a Senior Product Evangelist for Captivate and also the eLearning Suite.
It s not just this particular version that disappoints me; it s the general lack of vision that Adobe has clearly shown within this release. There s nothing in that room that addresses real solutions for today s trending topics, like Cloud computing, Mobile Learning, Responsive Design, Adaptive publishing, Mobile Apps, etc.
Having said, I cannot recommend this version of Captivate nor would I recommend counting on Adobe as being the future vendor that could deliver innovating and breakthrough eLearning and mLearning experiences for your 21st Century.

Perhaps having a little more the perfect time to explore, you may well be able to find some advantages of this version?
First off, congratulations to my old team at Adobe for launching Adobe Captivate 6. It has now been few months since I left Adobe and that is the first version of Captivate that I are able to explore externally.
I wouldn't participate inside the beta program, nor was I invited by my old PR team for being part from the press tour, so my primary look at the newest Captivate 6 was the afternoon it was announced, after downloaded a shot copy.
Like a lot of you, I too watched some on the sneak peeks the group was revealing in preparation to the launch, but besides that, I had no idea what is available.
Well, actually I did have an idea of what to anticipate, or otherwise I thought I did, since I was part in the initial talks for which would be inside next release with the product, prior to leaving this company.
The thing is, next to nothing I thought would be within the product found themselves making in Adobe Captivate 6. In fact there seemed to be one killer feature associated with mobile learning mLearning that individuals had talked about like a team, however it is nowhere in Captivate 6.
I can t let you know what that is as a result of confidentiality, but I can tell you so it would happen to be revolutionary and also a real game-changer and without it, it s tough personally to pick any particular one killer feature that I believe every product launch should include.
After playing around while using trial, my first impressions unfortunately aren t positive, to me the item feels half-baked, almost rushed perhaps just in time for mLearnCon?, some of the extra features feel disjointed and unnatural and when you want my honest opinion, it feels like inside middle of development, they changed directions more than likely because Articulate launched Storyline. I feel like the group quickly scrambled to produce sure your next version of Captivate could include some with the same features that Storyline users have learned to love because the launch, one example is Interactions, Themes, Actors, etc.
One thing very often frustrated me taking care of Captivate at Adobe was we were always very reactionary, for that most part features were added just to create sure we looked good when reviewers compared us along with other products, it absolutely was that dependence on a feature so as to get that coveted check-mark when put side-by-side against a competitors.

In considering most features, it seems for me that most features may have easily been extended all the best way. Here are some examples.
Whether you such as new User Interface or otherwise, around the surface we will need to admit it s much better than the previous plain, color-less UI in Captivate 5 an 5.5. However the changes are only for the surface, should you dig deeper, virtually every dialog box I ve seen is plain and color-less. Take a look yourself at the Questions dialog box, together with Advanced Interactions, Advanced Actions, Skin Editor and basically all other dialog boxes.
